Beatrilicious' Corner: Spring/Summer 2008 hottest accessory: - The Headband!

Blame it on Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf, headbands are back and they are so hot at the moment for Spring/Summer 2008. Check the paparazzi photos of hollywood celebs and you will see them wearing headbands. Even the high fashion designers are coming up with their own versions of headbands to catch up with this trend (just take a look at Blair’s headband in the Season Finale of Gossip Girl. She’s wearing a Jennifer Behr pink headband) Not only they are stylish, they are your best defense against bad hair days or when you feel just like being very girly or “kikay”. Good thing about headbands is that, anyone can wear them from young girls, teens, young professionals, moms, and the list goes on. There are lots of headbands to choose from, ranging from thick, thin, studded, with ribbons, flowers, garters. You can just raid your own cabinet and see if you have stocked old headbands from before! Voila, instant style! Here are some headband styles you can choose from (here are my personal headbands from my cabinet so I won’t have to spend a single centavo just to get in style haha!)

  • Sash Headbands – you can recycle the ribbons you get from your presents or buy one from a fabric store and you can instantly have a look that’s good to go! See Nicole Richie’s sash, similar to what Nikki used in her portfolio shoot (to check back, click here)

  • Patent Headbands – whether you ironed out or curled your hair, it will suit any style. If the LBD (little black dress) is a must-have in a girl’s closet, one should also have a LBH (little black headband!) haha! But seriously, it can take you from day to night. A trusty headgear that won’t let you down.

  • Printed headbandsFrom stripes to polka, printed headbands are cute to match your day outfit. Lots of colors to choose from. Select one the fits your personality or your mood for the day.

  • Bow Headbands – very Blair Waldorf-ish! You can dig up your old headbands with ribbons in it. I am using my brown headband which my grandma passed me more than 10 years ago. Since the trend is back again, I’m always using it again.

  • Garterized Headbands – best to use if you have a bad hair day. You can tie your hair and make an up-do then wear the garterized the headband to hide the baby hairs standing up. Good to use especially in the morning when you’re about to go to the gym or do your errands.

  • Studded Headbands – this kind of headband you can use if you want to be a little bit glammed-up. Iron out your hair for a more casual look or make an up-do then put the headband in place for a more formal look. Take it from Lauren Conrad and Rachel Bilson.

  5. I hated headbands with a vengeance when I was in primary and secondary school. It made me look so school-marmish. But now, I just love it. Tidies the look, plus there's something very appealing to the naughty-but-nice look ;)

  9. I am a headband fanatic who finally found a website, www.andreasbeau.com which has consistently the most awesome collection of headbands I've seen anywhere. They are made from gorgeous ribbons, trims and flowers, and they come both narrow and wide, classic and fashionable. The ones I've bought are not only meticulously made but also very comfortable! Check them out!
